Chatterbird to Perform Improvisational Concert Using Footage from Nashville Metro Archives
Chatterbird, a Nashville-based chamber ensemble, has announced further details for their next performance, Historic Nashville: A Celebration in Music and Film. The concert is free and open to the public and will take place June 21 at Nashville Public Library’s downtown location (615 Church Street). Additional info can be found here.
Chatterbird and Metro Archives Audiovisual Conservation Center have partnered once again to present a new live performance combining music and archival film footage. Working alongside Metro Archives Staff, chatterbird selected unseen and endangered footage from the collection for preservation, including film from the James Kilgore and Thomas Mayhew Collections. The ensemble then created a new music score and film piece which will debut live at Nashville Public Library on June 21 at 12:00 PM.
Wu Fei has curated the improvisation in the past. This time, the films will be curated by percussionist Aaron Walters and harpist Timbre Cierpke. This will be the first in a series of Nashville-based curators chatterbird will explore throughout their next season.The concert is also partnering with Make Music Nashville to present the concert in recognition of World Music Day, a live, free musical celebration that happens citywide every June 21.
